Project management is a growing industry with a forecast of 41.5 Million jobs to be created by year 2020 with an average salary of approximately $100,000 and one can be employed anywhere in the world.
"I would like to see our professionals marketable all over the world being competitive and receiving a great salary that will put them in the middle class," said Lilly Obina Muhwezi, the Executive Director of Kaizen Benchmarks, an international project planning institution.
Speaking during the launch of Kaizen Benchmarks on a breakfast meeting at Imperial Royale Hotel last week, Obina added that Ugandan professionals just need the right skills to compete internationally.

This company is partnering with a global Canadian company called BEVA Global Management, which will provide project management training and services to Ugandans.
They will also offer certification preparation courses that will lead graduates to Project Management Professional exams from Project Management Institute (PMI) in United States of America.
"This certification allows the graduates to apply for jobs in many industries all over the world. The duration on the course will be 5 days," she noted.
Obina, said this will help graduates prepare for the job market and offer them support to develop graduate resumes or Curriculum Vitae to make them competitive for jobs outside Uganda.

According to Dr. Isaac Enkoke, the Dean faculty of commerce Makerere University Business School, this program will create professionals in this industry because Makerere University has been on and off as qualification in project management is concerned.
He continues that they had not taken a step ahead to make project management a professional course for their students.
However, this is going to add value and supplement on what they offer as a business school and besides, students also need an internationally recognized professional course like this.
