Kasese killings: relatives demand for bodies

"My wife was shot and killed on Saturday at the kingdom administrative officers but even up to now I have not yet known were the body was kept or buried," he said.

 

Police on Monday morning dispersed a group of people who were flocking Kasese hospital mortuary to pick bodies of their relatives who were killed on Saturday.

Among the dead are royal guards of the Rwenzururu king Charles Wesley Mumbere.

"We need the bodies of our relatives to accord them a decent burial some of the bodies are still laying at the entrance of the palace and we are not being allowed to get them," Joy Biira a resident of Kamaiba said.

Francis Bwambale a resident of Mahango who said that he lost his wife who was shot dead at the kingdom administrative offices in Kasese town on Saturday morning said that he had requested the police to allow him search the mortuary so that he can be able to identify the body of his wife but he has since not got any response.

"My wife was shot and killed on Saturday at the kingdom administrative officers but even up to now I have not yet known were the body was kept or buried," he said.

Lt. Amos Nsamba, the 305 UPDF brigade spokesperson said that the operation was still going on and that there is no resolution reached ye.

"The operation is still going on we want to ensure that we disband that group of royal guards and flash them out of the Rwenzori mountain," Nsamba said.
