Uganda Cranes will be expected to start early preparations for the 2017 AFCON finals in Gabon. The January 14 to February 5 football event will be hosted in Gabonese cities of Libreville, Franceville, Oyem and Port Gentil.

Cranes who defeated Comoros 1-0 in September to qualify for AFCON after 39 years, will kick-off their preparations from December 19-24  before taking a Christmas break then return on December 26 till the second week of January.

Uganda opens the campaign against Ghana on January 17 in Group D before facing Egypt on January 23 in their second game.  They final group game will be against Mali on January 25.

The other teams in the group E are Egypt and Ghana.
