Lokoda says the Chinese have done “more than what our colonial masters did”.

KAMPALA - Ethics and integrity state minister Fr Simon Lokodo has praised the people of China for their continued support to the government and the people of Uganda.

Lokodo was speaking during a donation handover from his two lady friends he met in Chin, Ma Jane and Shirley Liu, who donated over sh10milion to Reach Out Mbuya Parish HIV/AIDS Initiative that cares for people living with HIV.

The Chinese government has continued extending a helping hand towards human development than other partners who are aiming at human distraction, said the minister.

Lokoda further said that the Chinese have done "more than what our colonial masters did" in the short period they have been in Africa and in Uganda in particular.

Betty Kintu, the executive director of Reach Out, thanked for the support from the people of China and called upon communities and individuals to come to their rescue.

"We have over 1000 people living with HIV we are taking care of here in Mbuya, Kireka and in Luwero and still receive more every day. That's why we need more and more help."

During the handover, the new acting Chinese Ambassador to Uganda Chu Maoming said that Uganda has been a great home for their businesses and that is why giving back is needed.

"We have similar problems mainly that of people living with HIV/AIDS which needs more partnerships in its prevention and treatment," said the envoy.

"The people of Uganda welcomed us here and that's why we need to keep this relationship with a better and healthy Uganda."
