14-yr-old arrested for allegedly sacrificing his siblings

Police has detained a 14-year-old suspect alleged to have kidnapped and sacrificed his siblings.

Kawaala Police on Tuesday arrested Taibu Semakula, 14, who is alleged to have murdered his siblings before dumping their remains in Lubigi swamp.

According to Police, Semakula kidnapped Vicram Lugonvu, 5, and Milly Namutebi, 7, on Sunday evening when they returning from church.

On Monday morning their father, Umar Ddungu a taxi driver, together with the Kawaala Zone II residents led by the LC1 chairman Wilberforce Sserwaniko mounted a search for the children.

Semakula later raised an alarm and told the search party that he had seen the lost siblings lying dead in Lubigi swamp. This raised suspicion among residents who called Police to intervene in the matter.

Semakula would later tell Police that he kidnapped the two siblings before sacrificing them with the aid of a traditional healer.

The retrieved bodies of the two kids were found without private parts and tongues.

"We have Semakula in our custody and we are set to interrogate him for more information as we hunt for the one who aided the sacrificing of the two kids," Kamadi Mwanje the head of intelligence at Kawaala Police Post said.

Ddungu told New Vision that the news of the discovery of the bodies found him in town on his way to place announcements in newspapers.

"We are still waiting for the mother of the deceased Doreen Kirabo who works in Quarter to arrive so that burial takes place" Ddungu said.

Sserwaniko asked government to enact a law on traditional herbalists since they are the prime suspects in kidnap and child sacrifice cases.

The bodies were taken to Mulago Hospital for a post-mortem. They will be buried in Luweero on Saturday.
