UHMG is seeking a dynamic qualified individuals to fill the following position as part of its team.

DUTY STATION : REGIONAL OFFICE
REPORTS TO : REGIONAL CLINICAL QUALITY ASSUARANCE OFFICER
PERIOD : ONE YEAR

Job Summary:

This role is to support improvement of the overall Family Planning and Sexual Reproductive Health Services uptake and service quality in the communities in their respective regions through Direct Service provision, capacity building, data management and verification of referrals.

Primary duties and responsibilities:

  1. Mobilise clients and family planning information sessions for clients in supported facilities.
  2. Hold group and individual counselling sessions to clients interested in taking up Family Planning Services, including PPFP, in supported facilities
  3. Coordinate clinic days, outreaches and other events at supported facilities
  4. Champion provider initiated FP (PIFP)
  5. Counsel clients to take up appropriate FP methods, including PPFP
  6. Provide short and long acting FP Methods
  7. Make effective referral of clients (wishing to undertake permanent methods such as tubal ligation (TL) and vasectomy) to pre-determined points
  8. Manage Family Planning complications or side effects that may occur in the supported facilities
  9. Follow up and ensure retention of FP users
  10. Ensure appropriate and correct quantification of contraceptive commodities and effective use of facility LMIS to prevent stock outs
  11. Be a focal point for quality issues at the supported facilities through liaising closely with the MSI Uganda CQAO to improve follow-up systems
  12. Ensure application of skills by the trained providers to boost FP uptake
  13. Plan and provide on-job training and mentorship for supported facilities
  14. Assess technical competency of the providers in FP and recommend for certification
  15. Observe providers regularly, record progress and provide support needs
  16. Ensure that accurate data is captured within the HMIS and is reported to UHMG
  17. Report monthly on all services and issues arising
  18. Record all training needs as a result of visits to the supported facilities and agree focussed support needs

Minimum Requirements (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

A Diploma/ Certificate in Clinical Medicine, Nursing and Midwifery or any other related field. An up to date registration certificate from a recognized institution is a MUST. Computer literate with knowledge of basic programs MS Office.

The Job holder should have knowledge of medical procedures, terminology and equipment, excellent proven knowledge of all Family Planning Methods, Proven communication skills at counseling and Family Planning Level and with at least two years' experience in Family Planning Services delivery.

REPORTS TO : CHIEF OF PARTY (COP)

Job Summary:

The Deputy Chief of Party will lead, coordinate, and provide technical oversight of the USAID/Uganda Social Marketing Activity in the absence of the COP. The DCOP shall directly assist the COP in activity implementation and management. S/he shall have complementary technical skills and experience to the COP.
