The warning was passed by the KCCA director of education and social services Juliet Nambi during her visit to St Peter's Senior Secondary School Nsambya.

On Thursday, fire from an electricity shock destroyed both school and students property worth millions of shillings in the school's senior one girls dormitory.

"We are going to deploy officers to inspect schools, we will be looking at the safety of students and pupils," she said.

Nambi said no school is allowed to start up a boarding section without approval from the Ministry of Education to avoid substandard facilities.

13-year-old Christine Nanjovu, a S1 student, said it was around 7pm when they heard pupils of their neighbouring school (St Peter's Primary School Nsambya) shouting that there was fire.

"On getting out of classrooms where we were having evening classes, we saw flames coming out of our dormitory. We picked up fire extinguishers and started putting in out until the Fire Brigade joined us and we fought it," she narrated.

Sydney Aupat also a student in S1 said most of their friends collapsed due to suffocation.

According the school head teacher Remigious Mubiru Mungere, forty five students were rushed to the hospital after they collapsed after seeing their property perish in fire.

"All our students were discharged and have resumed classes. However three of our students including Aaron Ogore in S6, Allan Nsubuga in S3 and Ezra Tendo in S6, are bedridden at the hospital after they sustained simple injuries" Mungere said.

He added that none of their S4 candidates were affected by the fire adding that they are all continuing with their exams.

He added that the school will provide photocopied notes and to all the students, however said parents will have to provide other things like the bed sheets for students to complete the school term.
