President Yoweri Museveni has agreed to give all the newly created districts in Busoga region a hospital.

Museveni told locals in Kamuli on Friday that he is aware of the huge population in the region that needs health services and wants every district to get a hospital.

New Vision learnt that many of the newly created districts in Busoga region have only been using health center IVs.

Museveni made the remarks while responding to a request by the Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga to build a hospital in every newly created district in Busoga.

Kadaga is the woman MP for Kamuli District and the second national vice-chairperson of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).

Museveni also okayed the takeover of private schools by government in sub-counties of Busoga that have got no government aided secondary schools.

Museveni said his government is ready to ensure that each of the over 1500 sub-counties in the country has got a government aided secondary school.

"We sat in Kyankwanzi and agreed that each sub county should have a secondary school and as longer as the elders in the area sit and agree to hand over a community school to government, we are ready to take it over and facilitate it," Museveni said.

But the president said he would not agree with the idea of government hiring private schools from their owners because it is wasteful.

Earlier, Kadaga asked Museveni to ensure that government builds a secondary school at least in every Sub County in Kamuli. This meeting was at Boma Grounds during the celebrations to mark the Global Hand-washing Day.
