The Black Pirates Rugby Club's work on their new home Kings Park stadium in Kakajo Zone Bweyogerere is steadily progressing and officials are confident they will be able to use the stadia next year.

Last month, phase I which included clearing and grading the ground was finished on the nine acre piece of land and now levelling and compacting the ground is what is going on.

"We finished clearing and grading the ground and now we have started levelling. The biggest challenge is getting the best soil to use,"club chairman Edmond Owor stated.

"We are investing sh20m in the second phase because we have to buy soil and transport it to the venue," Owor stated.

He added that he is confident the club will next year host the Uganda cup on that ground. The club hopes to plant grass on the two grounds and team starts playing games.

The 10,000 capacity seater stadium will host different sports disciplines ranging from basketball, volleyball, rugby and Tennis Courts.

Black Pirates currently is sharing the Legends Rugby Club Kampala with Betway Kobs, Mutoni Warriors, Shell Rhimula Rhinos, Boks and Black Panthers women rugby Club.
