Lumala returns to cockpit after 11 year hiatus

The 1999 and 2003 NRC champion is yet to get a navigator

Top drivers should expect fireworks next season with former national rally champion Moses Lumala announcing his return to the cockpit after an 11-year sabbatical.

 

The 1999 and 2003 NRC champion returns in action and will start with route opening this year before taking on the youthful field in competitive events.

"Yes I'm coming back and that is why I bought Nasser Mutebi's Evo 10. I will first do route opening and feel the car before starting to compete" Lumala stated.

He however added that he is yet to get a navigator.

Lumala joins Kuku Ranjit who made a comeback last year and now the number of rally drivers above 50 years has increased to five.

They are 2008 NRC champion Dr. Ashraf Ahmed (50), Christakis Fitidis (63), Wycliffe Bukenya (62) and Ranjit.

They will also be competing in the Independence Rally Sprint at Busiika on October 16th.
