Uganda joined the rest on the international community to pass their condolences to the Hindu Community, especially the BAPS Swaminarayan Santha Community in Uganda upon the passing away of their spiritual head Pramukh Swami Maharaj, 95.

Trusted by renown world leaders, Maharaj who was trusted and endeared believed in the worth of all people and dedicated himself to serving those in need all over the world.

President Obama lauded him for being a father figure, teacher mentor, friend and advisor. The statement partially described him as, "A spiritual guide who empowered people to live morally upright lives rooted in devotion that would transform their character, attitude and better lives for their families generally."

"His Holiness Maharaj, in his life, inspired many of us with his motto ‘In the good of others lies their own'" recounted the Uganda BAPS spokesperson Ajay Kailash Singh.

"This is how he advocated for selfless service to benefit the entire humanity for centuries to come. This is evidenced in what BAPS does, not only here in Uganda but wherever it is exists in the whole world" he said.

"That is why BAPS are able to fit in the cultural melting pot that modern Uganda is today," said Kailash.

"Maharaj has been succeeded by Pramukh Swami Maharaj as the sixth guru of BAPS" he added.

The community will pay tribute to Maharaj's life and legacy beginning on Friday at BAPs Mandir Kampala (Biwologoma) with Shardhai Sabha.

On Saturday they will be at Imperial Royal Hotel in Primerose Hall between 6-8pm for Shardhali Sabha and finally Sanday Sabha on Sunday at Biwologoma.
