Kyambogo University management has asked government to increase staffing levels at the institution to at least 75 percent.

The acting vice chancellor of the university Prof. Elly Katunguka was presenting the state of affairs of the university saying that right now Kyambogo has a staffing capacity of only 347 lecturers compared to the 621 needed.

He said that the staff capacity was meant to cater for only 8000 students and now they have over 22,000 students.

"We don't have enough professors in this country and that is why we are thinking that maybe we need to develop these people within Kyambogo and give them more opportunities" Katunguka said

Katunguka also urged the new council to expedite the process of looking for a new vice chancellor, dean of students and university secretary to reduce on the work backlog.

He also revealed that the university will hold its 13th graduation ceremony from the 14th to the 16th of December this year.

Katunguka said that 8,000 students will be graduating with degrees and diplomas and the university is now working with deans and heads of departments to get all marks of graduating students ready.

The university head of the directorate of ICT, John Okounzi, said that the institution has created a system to easily process transcripts which can be validated online and also cut the cost of transcript production.
