Galaxy International School marathon raises sh2.5m

The event raised sh2.5m that will be used to support and help the children of Kampala School of the Handicapped.

With over 500 participants, the Galaxy International Schools marathon that took place over the weekend was a great success.

The event collected a reasonable amount of money amounting to sh2.5m  that will be used to support and help the children of Kampala School of the Handicapped.

According to one of the members of the organizing committee, Herbert Baguma, the event was aimed at fundraising money for the needy and handicapped children in Uganda.

"As Galaxy International School we may not be able to provide everything and that's why we decided to raise money through this marathon to help and support the handicapped children in their education," he said.

One of their key needs being a librabry, Baguma commented that the money collected from the marathon would go to the construction of a library at the Kampala school of Handicapped Children located in Mengo behind Kabaka's Lubiri.

"With the proceeds from the marathon we will be able to construct a library for the children and see to it that their education is made better as we devise other ways to ensure that we meet most of their demands." he added

Some of the winners of the marathon included, Nelson Wek, Luka Alor and Mary Mwanza in the seniors' double race, Said Ahmed in the single race (juniors).
