It was a difference of 23 runs that separated the two sides as Keshwala Knights beat Spartans to the third edition of the Generation next cricket youth challenge on Friday at the Lugogo oval.

Following a clean sweep of 95 runs against the two time former champions Titans, the Spartans came into the final with higher expectations and the confidence required to command the game but they eventually came up short on demonstrating that.

In an unfamiliar occurrence, Davis Acire one of the tail enders was close to notching a half century, striking 43 from 41 balls on the way to what would turn out to be an beatable score of 131.

Earlier Emma Hasakya, the tournament's best batsman had made 20 off 23 balls before he was ruled out lbw. In the second innings, skipper Frank Akankwasa claimed 3/15 in 5 overs

"We have had a good game though we had issues with the officiation of the game but at the end of it all we had a shield to our name" said Frank Akankwasa, captain of Knights.

Derrick Bakunzi's Spartans could not successfully chase the game as they were all out for 108.

Cosmas Kyewuta   and Innocent Mwebaze posted 19 from 19 balls and 14 from 17 for Spartans who were still poor at keeping the wicket.The tournament was sponsored by the UCA, ABC stiles, Pak Stallions, Aziz Damani, Lakhani Motors, CASE Hospital, Lato milk, Mehta Group, and Amari Couriers.
