The Rugby Cranes 7s team beat Namibia 38-19 to emerge the 2016 Rugby Africa 7s champions in the final held at the Safaricom Stadium in Nairobi.

Uganda started on high note with Pius Ogena notching the first try before Lawrence Ssebuliba, Solomon Okias and Philip Wokorach added more tries to take a 26-12 halftime lead.

In the second half team captain Eric Kasiita and James Odongo added tries for the Rugby Cranes to secure the 38-18 win.

"It is good we are champions but the we have to go home and shift the focus to the two tournaments, the Dubai 7s and Cape Town 7s which will test our strength to go for the Hong Kong 7s which determine our entry to the World Rugby 7s series" coach Tolbert Onyango stated.

In the semifinal Uganda shocked Kenya 17-12 while Namibia beat Madagascar 12-7.

Other countries in the tournament were Tunisia, Senegal, Nigeria and Zimbabwe.
