Victoria University health sciences students association hands over leadership

The event was attended by students and members of staff from Bugema University students, Uganda Heart Institute, Reproductive Health Uganda, Uganda Nurses and Midwives Consortium.

Victoria University‘s health sciences students association leadership handed over to its new leaders on September 9, 2016  during the Faculty of Health sciences welcome party.

The association through its president was proud of having hosted a panel discussion on the theme: "Dependence to interdependence for Health". The event was attended by students and members of staff from Bugema University students, Uganda Heart Institute, Reproductive Health Uganda, Uganda Nurses and Midwives Consortium.

The association also organized outdoor activities that enabled them engage with students at Gayaza high school. This event was a career day that involved engaging with students, parents and teachers with an aim of showcasing Victoria University's faculty of health sciences programmes. Last weekend the team was also present at Mavuno's anniversary to engage with parents, students and children.

The association was also able to guide the university in celebrating the Earth Hour explaining the implication of this event. The outgoing president Ms Apolot Winnie, a student pursuing Bachelor of Public Health thanked the university leadership and her team for the support. She encouraged the new leaders to work towards taking the faculty of health sciences to the next level.

Through the association the students have been equipped with leadership skills, confidence building, innovation and creativity. They have also learnt to take responsibility over their actions while networking with key stakeholders in the industry.

The event was organized by the Stand in patron Ms Cathy Lubowa plus the students and presided over by Dr Gloria Seruwagi from the Faculty of Health Sciences who welcomed the new students and thanked the outgoing leadership for the job well-done.

She pledged to offer support to the new leaders. She also presided over the certificate handover of the outgoing student leadership and also awarded the top students from the faculty with prizes as a way of encouraging excellent performance from the faculty.
