He said institutional separation of couples can result into demoralizing of teachers
Mayinja County Member of Parliament John Baptist Nambeshe has asked government to carry out research on the effects of its proposal of separating spouses that teach in the same schools before implementing it.
Last month the Ministry of Education proposed that it no longer wants to have spouses teaching in the same schools citing that it is one of the factors that have contributed to poor service delivery in government schools.
Nambeshe said institutional separation of couples can result into demoralizing of teachers and warned government to proceed with caution.
"If such a decision is summarily taken, it may even cause deterioration in performance on the part of the couples that have been separated. Separating them would be a demotivating factor" Nambeshe said.
