Rookies Hassan Alwi and Enock Olinga won the Shell V-Power Pearl of Africa, brightening his chances of winning the National rally Championship (NRC) title this year.

Alwi, 26, navigated by Enock Olinga in a Subaru N14 took on the top crews Ronald Ssebuguzi, Desh Kananura, Muna Singh and Don Smith, beating them hands down in the tough challenging and rough routes.

The crew posted a time of 2 hours, 41.03 minutes, beating second placed Arthur Blick Jr who posted 2hours 41.53 minutes.

"We opened up in the first section which caused these guys to panic and make mistakes and in the last sections we took it easy,"Alwi stated.

Arthur Blick jr. finished second while Desh, Duncan Mubiru Kikankane, Ambrose Byona, Dr.Ashraf Ahmed and Muna Singh dropped out for various reasons.
