Two Police officers killed in Kabarole attack

A group of criminals in Bukara village Kabonero sub county Kabarole district have attacked police after it arrested three suspects over assault.

The attack which left two police officers dead and three others injured happened on Wednesday evening.

"Our officers had come here to effect arrest of three people identified as Joseph Muhanga, Kiiza Kimuti and another one only identified as Yubu," Lydia Tumushabe the Rwenzori regional police spokesperson told the New Vision.

The trio is said to have assaulted one David Akugizibwe a resident of the same area who reported the case at police.

Tumushabe said that the attack happened while police was still holding its community policing meeting to try and harmonize the conflicting parties.

"Two off the suspects were on handcuffs while the other was being tied with a rope as we conducted the meeting before the criminals arrived to rescue their colleagues," Tumushabe said.
