Military attachés inspect West Nile border lines

The defence attachés toured the border lines at Vurra customs and later travelled to Oraba border post in Koboko district.

A delegation of foreign military attachés is in the West Nile region to assess the security and humanitarian situation in the region.

The military delegation includes 11 representatives from the US, Rwanda, UK, Kenya, Belgium, South Sudan, Netherlands, France, Canada, Britain and Germany.

The defence attachés toured the border lines at Vurra customs and later travelled to Oraba border post in Koboko district.

The head of delegation also the deputy director protocol Uganda People's Defence Force (UPDF) Lt Aboth Mwesigwa says the military officers are on a routine tour to assess the security of districts that border countries.

"Their purpose here is to assess the security situation of West Nile, northern Uganda and all borders and to interact with the district leaders and commanders," said Mwesigwa.  

Arua RDC Peter Debele said it's a good gesture to always monitor the relationship between countries in order to address emerging conflicts.
