It was windy times at the Vatican that very day as a gust of wind blew away Pope Francis' skullcap during his weekly general audience in St. Peter's Square

 

 

Miles away, also on Wednesday, this Indian man bathed in the polluted waters of the river Yamuna in New Delhi, india

 

 

And in Venezuela, people demonstrating against President Nicolas Maduro were blocked by the National police in front of the Electoral National Council in San Cristobal on Wednesday, as the country's opposition called for new nationwide protests to pressure for a referendum on removing him from power by the end of the year

 

 

Still on Wednesday, American Paralympic snowboarder Amy Purdy danced with a robot during the opening ceremony of the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games at the Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro

And in Rio, where the Paralympic Games are still going on, Brazil's Lorena Salvatini Spoladore and her guide Renato Ben Hur Oliveira competed in a heat of the Women's 110 m (T11) at the Olympic Stadium

 

 

Also on Thurday, Brazil's Alan Fonteles Cardoso Oliveira (L) and Germany's Johannes Floors competed during a heat of men's 100 m (T44) of the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games at the Olympic Stadium

Syrian civilians from the town of Daraya were evacuated from the rebel-held town of Moadamiyet al-Sham to be taken to a shelter in the government-controlled town of Harjala.  The agreement between the regime and the rebels has already seen thousands of civilians and opposition fighters leave the town of Daraya, southwest of the capital, after a four-year government siege

 

 

Meanwhile, also on Thursday, Indian bystanders looked on as Space Research Organisation's (ISRO) satellite INSAT-3DR, on board the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV-F05) launched from Sriharikota
