Uganda is due to play Kenya in a friendly match on Tuesday

Uganda Cranes start training on Thursday in preparation for their final 2017 Africa Nations Cup qualifier against Comoros at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole on September 4th.

Cranes coach Milutin Sredojovic explained he has called a combination of 16 home based and 16 foreign based players that will start training with non-residential work before going into camp on Friday.

While addressing the FUFA weekly press conference on Wednesday, Sredojovic said that both the foreign and home based players will feature on his final squad on merit.

"We are using the friendly with Kenya as a measure of everybody's fitness. I'm sure home based players are going to push professional players to work hard," he said.

Uganda is due to play Kenya in a friendly match on Tuesday as the Cranes prepare for their last Group D encounter and Sredojovic said that he will use the match to gauge player fitness.

The squad has new names like UK based defender Bevis Mugabi (Yoevil Town) and returnee Yunus Sentamu (FC Ilves, Finland) on the foreign based list.

Locally, Abdulmalick Vitalis Tabu (SC Villa), Muhammed Shaban, Rashid Toha (Onduparaka), Timothy Awanyi (KCCA) are all lined up to compete for slots.

Versatile defender Dennis Iguma is missing from the squad as he serves a suspension following a second caution in the match against Botswana. He was also booked away against Comoros.

Cranes second choice goalkeeper Robert Odongkara has been dropped after he refused to honour a call up during the national team tour of Nakasongola in preference for a holiday trip.
