FUFA authorised us to play Muleme - KCCA FC

Aug 23, 2016

JMC who lost to KCCA 2-1 in the league opener petitioned Uganda Premier League secretariat accusing KCCA FC of fielding Muleme who they argued was ineligible

KCCA FC has moved to clarify the status new signing Isaac Muleme.

Muleme who signed a two year deal with the defending league champions was part one the players transfer listed by SC Villa last month.

These players ideally were to join teams of their choice after negotiating with SC Villa.

These included Jonathan Mugabi, Misi Katende, Karim Ndugwa, Nicholas Sebwato, James Kasibante, Abdul Ssebuliba and Muleme.

The players however appealed to the FUFA Players' Status Committee claiming that Villa hadn't put them on a transfer list rather they had been released.

The committee went ahead to clear the players to join clubs of their choice which SC Villa didn't agree with thus petitioning  the FUFA Appeals Committee concerning the decision ruling.

Last week, JMC who lost to KCCA 2-1 in the league opener also petitioned Uganda Premier League secretariat accusing KCCA FC of fielding Muleme who they argued was ineligible.

The Lugogo side however has since issued a statement on the matter which could derail the start of their title defense.

"That we were advised by the CEO FUFA in his circular dated August 1, 2016 to halt any process of signing up player (Muleme). Whereas the club had concluded all the negotiations and terms of the transaction with Muleme, we adhered to the directive and this is the very reason why he did not feature in the FUFA Super Cup win against Vipers SC on August 14th.

We continued to consult with the officials at FUFA and we were informed that Isaac Muleme and the other Villa players like Nicholas Sebwato at Bright Stars were cleared to play for the clubs they wished to represent.

We accordingly submitted to the FUFA Competitions Committee an application for the licensing of Isaac Muleme which was granted vide number 921010001.

The club was therefore granted permission by FUFA to field the player for our opening game against JMC."
