Sserwadda keen to address SC Villa's blunt attack

Villa have an away encounter against Sadolin Paints next

SC Villa coach Deo Sserwadda believes his side will quickly recover from their opening day blues where they were held to a goalless draw by Police FC at Kavumba, in the Azam Uganda Premier League.

Villa captain Mike Sserumaga missed a penalty that would have given Villa maximum points against a resilient Police side, but Sserwadda will take the positives and build on that in subsequent matches. Villa have an away encounter against Sadolin Paints next, at Bugembe on Tuesday.

"We played very well; we created more chances than our opponents and we approached the game very well so we will build on that going forward," Sserwadda said.

Villa was in charge of proceedings right from kick-off but could not find the target with strikers Umar Kasumba, Ambrose Kirya, Abdu Eturude and Mike Sserumaga creating chances which they failed to convert.

Not even the presence of club ambassadors; musicians Winnie Nwagi, Leila Kayondo and Irene Ntale in the stands could inspire Villa in getting the maximum points.

Wave after wave of attack including set pieces around the Police FC's box could not bear fruit in the second half with Yeseri Waibi twice blasting wide while Alex Kitata and Ambrose Kirya came close.

But it was Sserumaga's penalty miss after striker Kasumba was fouled as he pounced on rebound that Villa were left to lure. Sserumaga's effort was easily parried away by Police goal keeper whose overall performance made the difference and won him plaudits from his coach Sam Timbe.

"We made so many mistakes which we kept on correcting but I'm more satisfied with the performance of our goalkeeper,'' Timbe said.
