Uganda needs any win to qualify for the 2017 finals in Gabon

AFCON Qualifier

Uganda v Comoros (Sept 4, 5pm)

Confederation of African Football (CAF) has listened to FUFA pleas to allow Cranes' final qualifier against Comoros be played two and half hours than it had been scheduled.

CAF had adjusted the date and kickoff times for remaining Group D qualifiers featuring Uganda against Comoros and Burkina Faso against Botswana.

Fearing match-fixing, the day and kickoff time of the Cranes game against Comoros was changed from Saturday, August 3 to Sunday, August 4 from 4:00pm at 8:30pm.

FUFA argued that the timing was unfair for Ugandan football fans and thus appealed for an adjustment which CAF confirmed on Tuesday.

FUFA argued that the timing compromised security of the fans after the match and it was likely to affect the game due to poor lighting at Nelson Mandela National Stadium.

"CAF heard our pleas and accepted to bring backwards the kick off time to avoid the night time. We are so happy about it," FUFA communication manager Ahmed Hussein said.

The Burkina Faso and Botswana match that was due to be played at 5:00pm has been rescheduled three hours earlier to 2:00pm.

Uganda which leads Group D on goal difference is tied with Burkina Faso on 10points and needs any win to qualify for the 2017 finals in Gabon.

CAF has assigned the match to Senegalese referees Malang Diedhiou, Djibril Camara and El Hadji Malick Samba.
