Ssentamu eyes gold at Africa championship

The national motocross champion in the 85cc class Fortune Ssentamu has now turned his focus on winning the continental crown.

He said winning the FIM Africa Nations Motocross Championship gold medal has always been his dream and he will be out to fulfill it come next Saturday and Sunday at Jamhuri race track Nairobi.

"I have ever won the FIM Central Africa gold medal and several national championship medals. So I'm going to Nairobi to win a gold medal for Uganda to fulfill my dream."

Last Sunday, the rider defeated his traditional rivals Ben Nsumba, Wazir Omar, Joshua Mwangala and Waleed Omar during the fifth round of the mountain Dew National Motocross Championship.

Uganda last won the FIM Africa Nations Motocross Championship in 2012 when it was hosted in Busiika, Luweero district.

The team of 40 riders in the Peewee, 50cc, 65cc, 85cc, MX125, MX2, MX1 and the Veterans class leaves for Nairobi on Wednesday.
