By 7:00am Monday August 8, residents from three parishes in Rubaga division including Lubya, Nankulabye and Kasubi had gathered already at Kasubi Family primary school to register and be beneficiaries of the National Agricultural Advisory services (NAADs) this August.

Later on in the afternoon, people in charge of NAADs in Rubaga led by their chairperson, James Lule Tamale arrived and proceeded with the meeting which was organised to register people in need of support from NAADs, to select those that are qualified for the programme and to also sensitize them on how to take care of the projects they are to get.

During the meeting, Justine Arinaitwe, a Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) doctor working with NAADs told politicians not to register for the programme adding that they are not part of the people the government is targeting.

"For this programme, the government is targeting low income people especially the unemployed. It wouldn't be right for a government worker including politicians like councillors who get government salary to benefit from the programme," Arinaitwe explained.

She explained to participants that they will have to elect 19 people to verify who qualifies  for the programme.

Selected people were to visit the KCCA farm in Kyanja, Wakiso district for  a study tour to avoid making losses.

NAADs will give out mushrooms, vegetables, pigs and chicken to 19 famers in each parish in Rubaga division this August.

Contrary to Arinaitwe, NAADs chairperson in Rubaga division James Lule Tamale said, the programme benefits all Ugandans.

Geoffrey Mpiiga, a resident of Lubya asked  government to increase thr number of NAADS beneficiaries.
