The national rugby women sevens team, the Uganda Gazelles, emerged the 2016 Top Fry Nakuru Prinsloo Sevens champions  after a 41-0 whipping of hosts Nakuru in the final.

The ladies broke hosts Nakuru Women Rugby Club's three year unbeaten record, writing a new record of winning the tournament without conceding.

Samiya Ayikoru managed a hat-trick of tries as teammates Aisha Nakityo, Brenda Kayiyi, Emmanuella Oroma, and team captain Harriet Kayonjo added a try each.

"It was good for us, the girls improved with each game they played and that is why they managed to defeat Nakuru in the final, a team they struggled to beat 17-0 in the group stages," coach Helen Buteme stated.

"I think this is enough to prove that we need support to have our 2020 Olympics dream become a reality" Kayonjo said.
