Uganda is bidding to host the 2017 ICC World Cricket League Division 3

Davis Karashani and Charles Waiswa are on the verge of coming out of international retirement after being included on Steve Tikolo's provisional 30-man Cricket Cranes squad that has begun training for the Division 3 World Cricket League.

Local cricket body will offer all 30 players contracts, which according to UCA chief executive Justine Ligyalingi are divided between "Level 1 and Level 2".

Senior players like Karashani and Waiswa will receive Level 1 pay although as Tikolo told the New Vision on Wednesday, his final selection will be determined by "hard work, discipline and performance".

He explained, "At the end of the day, the game is about performance and anyone who performs will be selected".

Karashani told the New Vision that "he could not comment yet" on whether he had come out of retirement "because some things are still being sorted out" but he confirmed that he had had a talk with Tikolo that "made me look at things differently".

He explained, "Tikolo is Tikolo and i am glad to be breathing the same air with him. He talked to me and he is a big reason why I am in this process (of making a comeback) and I guess the same is true for Charles (Waiswa).

"Steve is an honest man and that goes a very long way with players. And, of course, his achievements speak for themselves."

Uganda is bidding to host the 2017 ICC World Cricket League Division 3 that will also feature Canada, Malaysia and Singapore. The event will be held in January with Uganda keen on securing promotion to Division 2.
