The fire caught Home Classic Furniture workshop at about 5:30pm.

An eye witness said he was passing when he saw huge smoke and flames at the extreme corner of the workshop at the time.

"When I saw the fire, I ran so fast to inform the operators about it. I found a woman and informed her about it.  Fortunately, there was a fire extinguisher in the workshop, which we tried to use to put out the fire but in vain," he said.

They were forced to make an alarm as the fire spread over the entire iron workshop.

"Other people came to our rescue and tried to help us before Police Fire Brigade arrived at 7:00pm, but it was too late and most of the property had been burnt to ashes," he narrated.

The owner of the workshop could not comment as she wept on seeing her property destroyed.

"Please, I cannot say anything. I am not feeling well. You see all my property has been destroyed and you're asking how I feel," she said.
