August 1- 7 is the World Breastfeeding Week. This year's World Breastfeeding Week aims to raise awareness about the benefits of breastfeeding while also tackling global sustainability goals.

World Health Organisation recommends that nursing mothers exclusively breastfeed their new-borns for the first six months of life to protect them against child-killer diseases such as diarrhoea and pneumonia and at the same time achieve their optimal growth and mental development.

However, in Uganda, according to UNICEF, 37% of mothers do not exclusively breastfeed their babies in the first six months, thereby increasing the risk of illness of these infants, compromise their growth and also raise the risk of death or disability. Find out why such a high percentage of mothers are shunning breastfeeding only in your copy of Her Vision tomorrow.
