One person died and four others were seriously injured in an accident which occurred on Saturday morning at Kibindiizi, Mpigi town council along the Kampala-Masaka Highway.

According to Betubiza, Police suspects that the driver for the lorry was dozing when he drove out of his lane and collided with the Canter.

The critically injured were rushed to Mpigi Health Center IV for first aid and later rushed to Mulago National Referral Hospital for further treatment while the body of the deceased was taken to Mulago Hospital mortuary.

The wreckages of the vehicles were towed to Mpigi Central Police Station and according to Betubiza, Police has started investigations into the deadly incident.

The Masaka-Kampala Highway has experienced a wave of accidents in the past month which has left scores dead and others nursing injuries.

Many have blamed the accidents on the narrowness of the highway while others blame the spike in accidents on human error.
