Campaigns for LC5, Woman MP seat begin in five new districts

The new districts where elections are taking place are Kibaale, Rubanda, Kagadi, Kakumiro and Omoro whose operation started this financial year.

The campaigns for the woman MP Seats and slots for the LC5 district chairpersons in the newly created five districts will kick off on Monday.

The Electoral Commission deputy chairperson, Joseph Biribonwa told New Vision that the nominations for the slots in the districts ended on Friday, giving way for campaigns to begin on Monday.

The new districts where elections are taking place are Kibaale, Rubanda, Kagadi, Kakumiro and Omoro whose operation started this financial year.

Biribonwa explained that according to their guidelines, a chairperson of the mother district who stays within the precinct of the new district will have to contest for the seat in the new district.

New Vision has also learnt that women MPs are free to decide whether they remain in the mother districts or cross over to the news districts.
