Moyo district leaders summoned over 2014 violence

This follows reports suggesting that 17 people died during the incident

Three members of parliament and an LC5 chairperson from Moyo have received summons over the 2014 violence that pitted the Madi and Kuku community of Kajokeji in South Sudan.

The three MPs include Ann Auru, former MP Moyo, Tom Aza, Moyo East MP and Fungaroo Kaps Hassan of Obongi County and Jimmy Vukoni the former LC5 chairperson.

The top Moyo leaders have been summoned following Police reports suggesting that 17 people died during the incident.

But Obongi County MP Fungaroo Kaps Hassan told the press in Arua today that he was part of the demonstration but that there were no lives lost.

The lawmaker has called for reconciliation and unity between the two communities particularly in the wake of the political unrest in South Sudan.
