He was diagnosed with HIV but he decided to kill himself when he got better

We all know people go to medical facilities for treatment and to get better. However, for Faizo Ndifuna, it was an opportunity to end his life.

Residents of Northern Division in Kamuli Municipality woke up to a horrifying morning after they learnt of a man who had hanged himself in a clinic.

Talking to reporters on Thursday morning, Kezrone Buteraba, the owner of St. Lawrence Kamuli Medical clinic where the incident happened, identified the deceased as Faizo Ndifuna, 45, from Lwanyama parish in Kisozi sub-county.

Hinting on the possible cause, Buteraba who is also related to the deceased could not rule out frustration and stigma since he had been diagnosed with acute HIV-related complications.

"He was unconscious when we admitted him. He was diagnosed with HIV but he decided to kill himself when he got better," said Buteraba.

Buteraba also said that mismanagement of property entrusted to him by his father who stays in London might have been another cause.

Aidah Nabirye, a care taker noted that, whereas they had been coming to St. Lawrence Clinic for treatment, this time round, Ndifuna's behavior was suspicious as he occasionally hinted on being tired of a troublesome life.

"He tricked me by sending me for roasted maize, when I brought the maize, I found him hanging in the room dead" said Nabirye.

The police spokesperson for Busoga North, Michael Kasadha confirmed the incident and noted that the body of the deceased was in the mortuary awaiting postmortem.
