National motocross team captain Maxime Van Pee has urged the government to scrap taxes on  motocross bikes like it is with rally cars to promote the sport in the country.

Maxime made the appeal to the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Jacob Oulanyah on Wednesday during the launch of the second round of the National Enduro and 4x4 championship that takes place on Sunday at FIDUGA Farm in Nsimbe Estate Wakiso district.

"Mr. Deputy Speaker there is a lot of talent to win medals for Uganda, but our major challenge is the taxes on the bikes. If you could help us by scrapping taxes on them so we can be in a position to compete with countries like South Africa," Maxime appealed.

Oulanyah in his reply promised full support for the sport but also urged sports federations to take advantage of the current number of sports legislators in parliament to push for favourable laws.
