Ugandans Kickboxers shine in Hungary

Ugandan kickboxer Shakey Mubiru has attributed his victory in the World Kickboxing Federation (WKF) fight against Hungarian Sandor Joo in Hungary Budapest to his coach.

The 26 year-old beat his opponent in all the three rounds of the fight.

"Coach Eric Adam helped me train hard to get in shape and ready for the fight." Mubiru stated on arrival from Hungary.

"He made my dream of qualifying for the World Kickboxing Championship in Italy in November come true and I am now focusing on that," Mubiru added.

Patricia Apolot also defeated the opponent while Alex Matsiko failed to prevail over the Hungarian.

Mubiru encouraged local athletes to challenge him so that they get the opportunity to open their doors to international competitions

"Challenging a world champion gives you an opportunity to get to the world map regardless of the results," Mubiru who is a graduate of mass communication at Nkumba University stated.

The team of three kickboxers was sponsored by Hima Cement.
