Gafford star player out for 18 weeks

Nabatanzi who is currently walking on crutches, was tackled by She Corporates Memory Nampijja during their 2-1 loss in the FUFA Women Elite League play-offs last week.

Gafford Ladies'Zainab Nabatanzi won't be in action for 18 weeks after damaging her ankle.

Nabatanzi who is currently walking on crutches, was tackled by She Corporates Memory Nampijja during their 2-1 loss in the FUFA Women Elite League play-offs last week.

"My ankle was dislocated while one of borns got broken. I was taken to Mulago for X-ray before receiving treatment. But at moment am not feeling so bad,"Nabatanzi stated.

Nabatanzi who is also a qualified national referee had just sat her promotional exams from level 3 to 2.  Last season, she handled various games in the Kawempe football region league, Wakiso first division league and Under-17 league.

Gafford Ladies Manager Henry Balungi told New Vision that it's a trying moment for the player.

"She is psychologically tortured with that injury and I think she may even retire from the game and concentrate on refereeing,"Balungi stated.

The former UCU Lady Cardinals player hailed her team (Gafford Ladies),family and Uganda Christian University for helping her. She is also currently pursuing a Bachelor degree in Governance and International Relations at the Mukono based side.
