St. John the Baptist, Mapeera-Nabulagala Catholic Church is built at the very spot where the pioneer missionaries, Fr. Loudrel Mapeera and Bro. Amans of the Missionary Society of White Fathers (also called Missionaries of Africa) established their first mission station and also, said their first mass in Uganda, on June 25, 1879. The parish, which was inaugurated in 2007, is now being manned by the White Fathers.

The Uganda Sector Superior of the White Fathers, the Very Rev. Fr. Gerard Chabanon asked Christians to pray for more vocations to the congregation, so that the missionary work of the congregation can be continued.
