Wananchi's brutal 6-2 victory against Simba at Lugogo on Sunday took them 3 points clear ahead of second placed Simba in the Men's division of the MPL National Hockey League.

Derrick Akuwa's side took an early lead in the 11th minute courtesy of William Oketcha. Innocent Raskara weighed in with a double and Thomas Opio scored another one as they posted 4-0 in the first half.

Skipper Akuwa's brace in the second half sealed the game for the defending champions.

"This win has given us the confidence and focus to go forward as we look to defend the trophy" said Akuwa.

Denis Okende's late efforts only served as consolation for Simba as they suffered their first loss of the season.

Meanwhile third placed Weatherhead drew 1-1 against Kampala with Peter Elolu and Samuel Wakhisi on the mark for Weatherhead and Kampala respectively.

In the ladies division, Leaders Wanachi overcame the Gazelles to remain on top of the log as KHC Swans humbled Deliverance 4-0 courtesy of Pauline Achom, Judith Mirembe and Winnie Atim's double.
