UPC'S Dan Oola Odiya in police custody

The Asw River Police Spokesperson -Patrick Jimmy Okema says Odia was arrested last evening- by two police detectives from the Gulu Central Police Station what he described as investigations -over an undisclosed sensitive crime.

Police in Gulu district has said the Uganda People's Congress (UPC)-National Assistance Secretary for mobilization; Dan Oola Odiya is in their custody.

The Asw River Police Spokesperson -Patrick Jimmy Okema says Odia was arrested last evening- by two police detectives from the Gulu Central Police Station what he described as investigations -over an undisclosed sensitive crime.

Oola was -reported to have been abducted by unknown gunmen from near Trivoli bar and restaurant on Coronation road, in Gulu Municipality.  

The Gulu District UPC Secretary -Christopher Ouma Opwonya says Odia was arrested when he was taking a boda-boda motorcycle to return home.

He says his captors tricked him that they needed assistance and put him at gun point when he tried to resist arrest.

Opwonya says Oola later -informed his family members who informed party members about the arrest.

Addressing journalists from Saint Monica Vocational School this morning,   the Uganda People Congress Party President Olara Otunu condemned the manner in which Odia was arrested.

He says it was -disturbing that a national political leader can be -abducted in the middle of the town.
