Museveni names Gov't key priorities

Revealing that there are already talks between government and commercial banks to soften terms for Ugandans, especially traders and manufactures, Museveni said there is no battle NRM cannot win.

President Yoweri Museveni's outlook of the new government is weaved around opening a decisive battle with the corrupt, running a frugal and speedy execution of business, especially when dealing with investors and working on the reduction of electricity prices in the country.

Recapitalising the Uganda Development Bank to increase access to lower interest loans for Uganda, especially those involved in agriculture and proposing a new law to protect consumers are the other new action points that Museveni's government is going to emphasize.

Revealing that there are already talks between government and commercial banks to soften terms for Ugandans, especially traders and manufactures, Museveni said there is no battle NRM cannot win.

"Uganda Development Bank will be recapitalised to increase access to lower interest loans for the Agriculture sector Government is going to bring legislation to deal with consumer protection. I have told farmers to concentrate on three crops; coffee, fruits (oranges, mangoes and pineapples) and tea," he said. 

"NRM has never failed to confront any battle. We shall similarly win the corruption battle. "Thieves (the corrupt) are endangered species. Do not delay any project. A request for investment should not take more than two days. The excuses about the environment are also not valid. Cadres don't steal. It is a disappointment to find educated people being corrupt. When we fought Idi Amin, we blamed them for all mistakes now educated people being corrupt," he said.
