Buganda Chief Magistrate, Jameson Karemani, has also ordered Kasango refund to sh3.5b to Toro Queen mother Best Kemigisa within one month.

City lawyer Bob Kasango has been sentenced to a fine of sh12m or jailed 4 years over forgery and stealing by agent.

Buganda Chief Magistrate, Jameson Karemani, has also ordered Kasango refund to sh3.5b to Toro Queen mother Best Kemigisa within one month.

Kasango was recently convicted by High Court Judge Elizabeth Kabanda for stealing by agent and uttering false documents to defraud the government.

According to prosecution, Kasango between 2008 and 2009 in Kampala, received over sh3.3b from the permanent secretary in the ministry of lands, housing and urban development through M/s Hall and Partners for and on behalf of Tooro Queen Mother Best Kemigisa but he did not fully remit the money to her.

Former Buganda Road grade one Magistrate Ziruntusa acquitted Kasango of the same charges in February 2015.

The debt arose from over sh4.5b government paid to Kemigisa for the land she sold but Kasango did not remit it to her.
