Induction of MPs starts

The first induction session is being handled by senior legislators Jacob Oboth, Wilfred Niwagaba, and Abdu Katuntu.

The Clerk to Parliament Jane Kibirige has started the induction of the 10th parliament legislators.

In the first session which started at 10:00am in the Parliament conference hall, Kibirige said at the end of the induction, the new legislators will know how to conduct themselves and what it takes to be good legislators.

The first induction session is being handled by senior legislators Jacob Oboth, Wilfred Niwagaba and Abdu Katuntu.

Katuntu told the new MPs that having basic knowledge about the parliament rules of procedure and the constitution would make them good legislators.

"You need to do research and have passion for a certain sector. In the previous parliament we had Dr. Medard Bitekyerezo who excelled on matters of health because he had passion for that sector. Research is the most important thing you can do to make a good MP," Katuntu argued.

According to the program read by the Speaker, Rebecca Kadaga, the House is expected to reconvene next week on Tuesday (May 31, 2016) for State-of-the Nation Address by the President.
