Rotarians give free medical care to over 700 patients

Among those who turned up for the medical camp was a one Alice Nalwanga, 80, who has been suffering from abdominal complications for the past 30 years but cannot afford to meet the medical costs.


Over 700 residents of Bukundugulu in Gomba district have received free medical treatment at a health camp organized by the Kampala-Impala Rotary club in collaboration with the ministry of health.

Among those who turned up for the medical camp was a one Alice Nalwanga, 80, who has been suffering from abdominal complications for the past 30 years but could afford medical costs.

She said that when she heard about the health camp, she woke up at around 5am.

HIV testing, cancer screening, general treatment like malaria, polio vaccination, dental services, family planning and entrepreneurship were among other services offered to people.

In her remarks, the president of Kampala Rotary club-Impala, Hajjat Rehmah Nakawooya Kasule said that the medical outreach was meant to help vulnerable communities.

She noted that every year, they always give free medical services and have organized 86 medical camps this year countrywide.

She implored the wealth people to join hands with the government to ensure that people in their communities get access to medication.

Lydia Naluggwa, a mid-wife at Gomba health Centre IV commended the rotary club for providing free medical services to the people of Gomba.
