Afrika Mashariki Fest Half Marathon receives boost

Elite athletes will compete in the 21km race

Elite athletes from Kenya, Ethiopia, Tanzania and Uganda will participate in this year's edition of the Afrika Mashariki Fest half marathon at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds due on May 29th.

The Afrika Mashariki Fest event organizer Ronex Kisembo disclosed this to New Vision after receiving a medical services boost from Aga Khan Hospital and City Ambulance at an event held Naalya.

"We are championing the East African federation and i can assure you that this year we shall have elite athletes from Ethiopia, Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda competing in the 21km race," Kisembo stated.

Meanwhile Martha Osiro, the Aga Khan University Hospital manager urged Ugandans to join the Marathon as a way of making their bodies healthy.

"A healthy society is healthy nation and healthy society contributes to the development of a nation. It is upon this that we are proud to support Afrika Mashariki Marathon because exercise builds a healthy body and mind," Osiro stated.

"We shall provide medical personnel and also offer medical check-ups including dental to all participants free of charge," Osiro added.

 

City Ambulance director Isabella Byaruhanga committed two fully equipped ambulances to offer emergency medical support to the participants.

"We are committed to continue supporting the Mashariki Marathon as we expand our services to the East African region and also promote the East African Integration," Byaruhanga stated.
