UPDF officer who killed seven transferred to Mbarara

He will be taken back to Kanungu for trial

A UPDF officer who shot dead eight people in Kanungu district last month has been transferred from Kanungu to Mbarara district for maximum detention as investigations continue. 

Maj. Ronald Kakurungu, the UPDF spokesperson for the 2nd division told Radio West that Lance Corporal Moses Katwesigye Katoko is now being detained at the UPDF's second division headquarters in Makenke Mbarara. 

He noted that Katoko will be taken back to Kanungu for trial before court martial once his file is ready.  

Katoko, attached to the UPDF's 307 Brigade in Mburamazi village, Nyakinoni sub county Kanungu district, first shot dead two fellow soldiers including his wife before escaping with his firearm killing another five civilians on April 21st.
