Challenger's derring-do performance against Patidar paid off as they beat them by 6 wickets inspite of not finishing their allotted overs at Entebbe oval on Sunday.

Ahmed Naseer scored 45 off 64 balls as skipper Ivan Thawithemwira recorded 29 off 50 balls to remain second, below Tornado bee on the table standings.

The game's overs were reduced to 46 overs following a downpour in Entebbe leaving challengers with a six wicket win.

"We are now motivated ahead of the second round. The win is a huge boost for the team," said Thawithemwira who won the ICC Volunteer of the Year award last month for his cricket contribution in Fort Portal.

Patidar's Emmanuel Isaneez 's 31 off 54 balls and Guarang Patel 29 off 66 balls could not do much for their team as they remained fourth.

The game was the last in the first round of the UCA men's league ahead of the second round which bats off next Sunday.

Meanwhile Jinja SS' Hassan Mpanuka claimed 3/18 in 6 overs, Isa Kilama 2/11 in 5 overs to inspire Jinja SS to victory against Africa Cricket Club in the second round of the second division at Jinja oval.
