Why Museveni haters should change their mindset

On May 12, 2016, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will take oath to lead Uganda for the next five year tenure in office.

This will be yet another great achievement in the history of Uganda's mass party that believes in the principle of institutional building but more importantly a party that has been tested and subjected to a vote where its leader won the February 18, 2016 elections.

However, as our President prepares to take oath, there are things that some unpatriotic Ugandans continue to do at the expense of presenting the NRM and the president elect as bad elements, thereby justifying the need for regime change.

So far we have elements of some people who are too selfish and worst of all with a bad mind set towards the person of the president and all people under him. My justification is based on people who enter hotels for lunch and by Gods luck, its self service.

Some people will heap their plates and even fail to finish the food. Can you imagine that such a scenario?  I am sure most of us if not many have witnessed such selfishness of the highest order and imagine such people being entrusted with leadership roles.

Therefore, as citizens we must all agree that in public you dismiss your enemy as the most incompetent person but in private, you realise his strength and competence.

We must realise that President Museveni won elections and he is a competent global leader and as Ugandans, we need a global approach towards building strong institutional systems for this country.

The single critical success factor lies with his diversity in knowledge of governance, management, social accountability towards better production and service capabilities, of citizens' demands for better livelihood, through positive influence despite the diverse cultural, political, social and institutional backgrounds .

This is the character we ought to appreciate of our president that has been developed over time and built on threshold competencies that include a requisite level of inquisitiveness, openness and natural abilities that are supported by cross-cultural knowledge, built on a base of business and technical skills.

This is a true testimony that our President's mindset has changed over time and that is why he has proved to be a global leader of the times due to his global mindset that is pro-development.

In a bid therefore to support our global president, Ugandans ought to understand that our country is bigger than selfish individuals. Citizens hold the biggest stake in protecting that which belongs to them, as this directly impacts them. This must be achieved by all, regardless of political affiliation.

I'm convinced that politicking is over and every one must account for his or her actions towards making Uganda a better environment to live in.

Beyond reasonable doubt, president Museveni's next tenure of office will strongly deal with those who selfishly sabotage and delay service delivery.

This has been vividly seen at previous rallies where the president would task sub-county NAADs coordinators to give accountability on the programme's progress to the right holders in vain.

For sure, our mindset towards work and supporting those who defeated us must be learnt clearly in order to make our competent global leader deliver on his promises with our full support.

I, therefore, say that as Ugandans we are going into a football game for the next five years where the ultimate aim of us all must be to score despite the challenges but suffice to note also that, the time is now to unite, minimize our selfish interests and develop a good mindset in order to move together for the sake developing this country.
