Sh756m has been lost due to the wrangles

The Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Shaban Mubajje has finally resolved the wrangles between Jamia Main Mosque in Soroti town and the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) Teso District leadership over ownership of 21 lockup shops.

The two parties have also been reconciled by the Mufti.

The Jamia Main Mosque Muslim committee along Market Street led by their Chairperson, Milo Vakir and the UMSC Teso District leaders have for the last three years been at odds over the ownership of the lockups.

Abdul Razak Hassan Koluo the District Chairperson UMSC Teso said the wrangles have made them lose about sh756m which would have been collected as rent from the tenants.

According to Koluo, no one has been collecting rent because of the conflict.

In the meeting convened by the Mufti at Villa Nora Guest House in Soroti Town, an agreement was reached that the UMSC Teso District leadership entrusts the Muslim committee of the mosque to manage the lock-ups.

The mufti gave the Muslims a one week ultimatum to sign a memorandum of understanding agreeing what they have resolved so that it is sent to the headquarters.

The mufti has been on a pastoral tour since Monday last week visiting the Muslim district councils in Busia, Tororo, Mbale, Sironko and Soroti.
